Amanah Co-operative

A Place To Belong!

We are a nurturing community of homeschooling families coming together to grow and learn.

We contribute and share our individual gifts and talents in a communal setting to support each other in fulfilling the responsibility of educating and raising our children.

At Amanah Homeschool Co-op, we pray that our children will flourish intellectually, emotionally and spiritually in the warmth and safety of an intimate, responsive community.

More on our philosophy here.

Community Centered Learning

Our classes fall in two categories:

  1. Community Powered Classes:

These are classes proposed by mothers and led by them, occasionally our students lead classes as well. All classes except for middle and high school classes are community powered classes. These classes have no additional fee and they are really at the heart of this co-operative community. Our model is intentionally designed to nurture and grow confidence in mothers.

We have a brainstorming session before the school year where community members come together and express their needs and aspirations.

We curate classes as a collective sharing our unique talents and using a little bit of creativity to include soft skills, enrichment and expression.

Mothers are free to propose any subject, skill or activity that inspires them. Classes can vary from sewing club to kitchen science, board games to math club, book club to gardening. The sky is the limit. These classes are meant to be fun, enriching and exciting for both the teacher and the students.

  2. Adolescent Program 12-15/16

For the academic year 2023-25 we will be offering a rare opportunity to participate in a pilot program designed for adolescents ages 12-15/16.

This developmentally informed, integrated, Montessori Adolescent program will bring together a myriad subjects and skills in a communal setting that is intentionally designed to foster independence and creativity. This program is curated and creates space to help develop leadership, initiative and other interpersonal skills.

Islamic Art & Reflection, Chemistry, Culinary Skills, Microeconomics, Public Speaking, Literary Analysis, Writing and more will be brought together in a unique manner to a small group of emerging young adults.
